The heart can be both delicate and strong, fearful or courageous, open or constricted. When we experience loss, grief, pain or disappointment we tend to close off our hearts in order to protect ourselves from painful emotions. We become afraid to love, out of fear of losing love, fear of not being loved back or lack of self-love.

The heart is a complex matter. It is the organ that pumps life into our bodies and the energy center that allows us to feel love, sadness and joy. The Heart Chakra is at the center of the seven chakras and is believed to be the area where the physical and spiritual meet. Anahata (the sanskrit word for the heart chakra) means "unstruck" or "unhurt" , implying that beneath the hurts and grievances of past experiences lies a pure and spiritual place where no hurt exists.

A closed or restricted heart chakra can give way to anger, jealousy, fear, resentment towards others and difficulty in giving and receiving love.

When the heart chakra is open therein lies love, compassion, openness, forgiveness, acceptance of others and yourself and the ability to give love and receive love deeply and freely.

We believe the experience of opening the body through yoga, the healing energy of music, writing and creative expression encourages an opening of the heart, the highest vibration of energy and the deepest connection to ourselves and our own

Heart Mantra

"May I be open and willing to receive all of life's lessons, even the lessons I don't understand. May I hold faith in my heart and trust that I am exactly where I am meant to be."
